Share

With nearly 490,000 passengers in October, traffic at Bordeaux Airport increased sharply again, up +10.8%; regular performance has enabled growth of +8.5% since the start of the year. International traffic and low-cost routes continue to soar, up respectively by +23.2% and +18.2%. Domestic traffic advanced more timidly with growth of +1.8%.

International traffic continues to make good progress with nearly 230,000 passengers a month, an increase of +23.2% in October and +15.5% since January 2015.
International hubs achieved outstanding performances:
Paris Charles-de-Gaulle (56,985 passengers)    +12.5%
Amsterdam (29,428 passengers)                     +25.1%
London Gatwick (26,575 passengers)                 +5.6%
Lisbon (11,149 passengers)                            +12.1%
Brussels (6,254 passengers)                           +24.6%
Istanbul (5,981 passengers)                           +39.3%
Madrid (5,320 passengers)                              +31.5%

The large European cities also posted very good scores and contributed significantly to this strong increase: Barcelona +27.1% (Vueling), Venice +39.9% (Volotea), Porto + 54.6% (Ryanair), Edinburgh +59.6% (Ryanair) and Palma de Majorca (Vueling, Volotea) +79.3%, are the top  destinations of the month. Of note are the excellent filling rates of the last flights of the Air Transat season to Montreal, profiting from the Indian summer in Quebec.

Domestic traffic rose by +1.8%. Corsica continues to post impressive growth with nearly 7,000 passengers carried, an increase of +39.2%. Mixed results for Paris-Orly, down slightly by 1.8%, and Marseille which fell -29.4%, both due to reduced seat numbers in October.

206,000 passengers took low-cost flights, which posted growth of +18.2%, driven by three major airlines in Bordeaux: easyJet (+14%, 126,031 passengers), Ryanair (+40%, 29,816 passengers) and Volotea (+ 46.7%, 27,688 passengers).
