A fire alarm that sounded inside Birmingham Airport’s main terminal around 14:00 (UTC +1) prompted all passengers to evacuate the building, causing a massive chaos at the British airport as flights got delayed for hours.
Fire fighters rushed to the airport after reports of smoke in a bar in the main terminal were made. The rescue services, however, confirmed there was no fire on the airport.
Based on twitter comments from passengers, some flights departed with a delay of more than two hours and a half.
