Berlin traffic grows slightly despite Middle East conflict and strike disruptions

Share

Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) handled 1.98 million passengers in March 2026, a 1.2% increase year-on-year, despite significant operational challenges.

Flight movements fell by 3.6% to around 14,700, impacted by both the Middle East conflict and a ver.di strike on 18 March. Approximately 450 flights to the Middle East were cancelled, while the strike led to a further 430 cancellations.

Cargo volumes were hit hardest, dropping by one-third to 2,900 tonnes compared to March 2025.
