Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) will become significantly easier and faster to reach from 14 December 2025, as the upgraded Dresdner Bahn enables up to five direct trains per hour between Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Südkreuz and the airport.
The Airport Express FEX will run up to four times hourly, complemented by the hourly RE20, cutting travel times to 23 minutes from Hauptbahnhof and 14 minutes from Südkreuz.
The new connection also shortens journeys from major cities including Leipzig, Erfurt, Hanover and Hamburg by up to 37 minutes. Additional enhancements include the new S85 S-Bahn link to north-east Berlin, expanded regional services to eastern districts, and renewed direct Intercity connections from Dresden, Chemnitz and Rostock.
Overall, the improved rail network strengthens BER’s accessibility for both regional and long-distance travellers.
