Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) expects around 3.7 million passengers during the Berlin and Brandenburg summer school holidays, matching last year’s traffic levels as airlines expand their route networks and capacity.

The airport anticipates approximately 400,000 passengers during the first five days of the holiday period, from 8 to 12 July, with the busiest travel days expected to be 10 July, 21 August and 23 August, when around 90,000 passengers are forecast each day.

Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Italy and Greece remain the most popular destinations, while easyJet, Ryanair and Eurowings will operate the most flights from BER.

Several airlines are increasing their presence this summer. Wizz Air has expanded its capacity from Berlin by more than 90% compared with last summer and now serves 12 destinations. Eurowings has based two additional aircraft at BER, adding routes to London, Lisbon, Sarajevo, Olbia, Naples and Kavala, while also increasing frequencies to Palma de Mallorca.

Other network additions include AJet’s new Bodrum service, Air Uniqon’s flights to Sylt and Middle East Airlines’ seasonal route to Beirut.

BER is also strengthening its long-haul offering to North America. Air Canada will inaugurate flights to Montréal on 3 July, Air Transat is resuming services to Toronto, while Delta Air Lines and United Airlines will each operate daily flights between Berlin and New York during the summer season.

The airport has advised travellers to reserve parking in advance due to high demand and has also launched a new WhatsApp information channel to provide passengers with travel updates and airport news.
