Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) anticipates around 1.4 million travellers during the autumn holidays from 17 October to 2 November, with approximately 275,000 passengers expected during the first weekend alone. Over the full period, 9,400 aircraft movements are scheduled.
Mediterranean destinations remain especially popular: Antalya leads with 491 take-offs and landings, followed by Mallorca with 332. Turkey and Spain together account for more than 2,000 flight movements. Among airlines, easyJet (1,372 flights), Ryanair (1,342) and Eurowings (874) operate the most connections.
After a recent cyberattack on Collins Aerospace systems, the airport confirmed that check-in and boarding systems are now fully restored, though some minor delays may still occur.
“Following the challenging weeks after the cyberattack, we’ve worked intensively with partners to prepare for the holiday season,” said Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH. “The high demand shows that air travel remains important to many people.”
To ensure smooth travel, BER recommends that passengers arrive early, check in online, and book parking in advance. Travellers can also save time using Fast Bag Drop machines, BER Runway for security time slots, or EasyPass for faster border control.
Security controls in parts of Terminals 1 and 2 feature modern CT scanners, allowing passengers to keep electronics and liquids in their bags. However, the 100 ml limit for liquids still applies.
During the holidays, S-Bahn services between Grünbergallee and Baumschulenweg (S9, S45) will be suspended from 28 October to 3 November, with replacement buses in operation.
Shops and restaurants remain open throughout the terminals, with REWE and Kamps available 24/7 in Terminal 1. Travellers can also use the BER app for digital coupons, travel tips, and long-distance ticket booking.
