Barcelona-El Prat Airport recorded 385 flight cancellations over the weekend of 3–4 October as torrential rain swept across Catalonia, according to Civil Protection figures supplied to EFE. These comprised 220 cancellations on Saturday and 165 on Sunday, covering arrivals and departures.
The totals differ between sources. Aena said airlines had reported approximately 200 cancellations on Sunday, but it had no aggregate figure for Saturday and did not confirm how many were directly attributable to the weather. Flightradar24 recorded 247 cancellations and 510 delayed flights on Saturday, followed by 165 cancellations and 297 delays on Sunday.
Weather stations near the airport measured 80.3 litres of rain per square metre on Saturday, almost twice the amount recorded during Tuesday’s storm, when flight-tracking data showed 113 cancellations.
