Heavy rains from a “Dana,” an isolated high-altitude depression, have led to severe flooding across Catalonia, with Barcelona’s airport partially submerged and about 50 flights cancelled.
Civil Protection issued warnings for Barcelona, Garraf, and Baix Llobregat, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel and stay clear of rivers and cliffs. Videos show flooded terminals and water leaking from airport ceilings, forcing passengers to navigate through pooled water. In addition to flight cancellations, 17 flights have been diverted.
These floods follow devastating rains in Valencia, where 217 people lost their lives last week.
