Seven new summer 2018 destinations for Flemish airports (Antwerp and Ostend)

More flights to sun, nature & culture

The airports of Ostend-Bruges and Antwerp today announced the provisional summer schedule for 2018. The growth of Flemish airports continues steadily with typical sun destinations like Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada, Corfu and Djerba, but also Florence in Tuscany, Sion in Switzerland and London are offered during the summer season.

Airport Antwerp

New is the service to Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance and one of Europe’s most famous cultural cities. The Tuscany region is one of the most beautiful parts of Italy with a very pleasant climate, beautiful cities, 120 nature reserves and excellent wines. TUI flies twice a week from Antwerp to Florence this summer.

Of course, London remains an important destination from Antwerp for business travellers as well as for city trips. From March 2018, travellers will have a choice between London City with VLM and London Southend with Flybe.

The new destination of Sion in Switzerland will remain operational during the summer months. Newcomer Powdair aims at passengers looking for nature, mountain sports and gastronomy in Switzerland. Sion, the capital of the Canton of Valais, is also known as Switzerland’s most spoiled city.

Ostend-Bruges Airport

blankHome carrier TUI also expands at Ostend-Bruges Airport next Summer. In addition to an extra flight to Alicante on Fridays, TUI flies to 4 new destinations: Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada, Corfu and Djerba. These places are traditionally popular with the Belgian sun lovers but are also expected to attract passengers from the Netherlands and northern France.

Marcel Buelens, CEO of Antwerp and Ostend-Bruges airports said:

Our airports have in the meanwhile built up a loyal customer base that again selects the many benefits of regional airports. These passengers let us know regularly which places are on their wish list and we are therefore pleased to be pleased with these new summer destinations.
