A recent passenger satisfaction survey conducted at Antwerp Airport and Ostend-Bruges Airport confirms the strong appeal of Belgium’s regional airports, particularly for their proximity, efficiency and personalised service. Overall satisfaction was rated as good to very good by 87% of passengers in Antwerp and 84% in Ostend-Bruges, with airport staff receiving especially high praise: 95% of respondents awarded staff a score of at least 8 out of 10.
The survey underlines the airports’ strong regional role. At Antwerp Airport, 93% of passengers live in the province of Antwerp, while Ostend-Bruges Airport mainly serves travellers from West Flanders (87%) and East Flanders (9.5%). Proximity was cited by 89% of respondents at both airports as the main reason for choosing a regional airport, followed by smooth check-in processes and short walking distances.
High satisfaction translates into passenger loyalty, with around two-thirds of travellers using their regional airport multiple times a year. Most journeys are leisure-related, primarily holidays, followed by trips to second homes and visits to friends or family.
Airport management says the results validate their focus on comfort, convenience and customer-focused service, while also providing guidance for further investments aimed at maintaining high service standards and enhancing the passenger experience ahead of future travel seasons.
