October showed a remarkable growth rate in the number of passengers at Antwerp airport. The number of passengers rose by no less than 46.6% (or 10,198 additional passengers compared to the same month last year), in line with the busy summer months.

Moreover, the airport is reaching a new record because never before have so many passengers been registered in the month of October.

This significant increase is the direct result of additional capacity from TUI fly (specifically the higher number of seats on ethnic flights such as Nador, Tangier and the new destinations Enfidha & Lublin). In addition, the three daily business flights of the brand new airline “Air Antwerp” with destination London City contribute significantly to these growth figures.

We also noted double-digit growth in the number of business jet passengers (+ 12%).

The gap (40% capacity loss due to the VLM bankruptcy in 2018) of the number of passengers over the period January-October has now been reduced to 0.7% compared to last year. Therefore, Antwerp airport expects to do better than 2018 by the end of this year.

The airport of Antwerp can once again boast excellent quality figures for the month of October in terms of punctuality on departure. Records were broken last month; 98.2% for on-time performance (OTP).

This makes Antwerp by far the best student in the class at the European level.
