Amsterdam Schiphol Airport will close Runway 09/27 (aka Buitenveldertbaan) on weekdays from 31 August to 8 September for annual maintenance. The runway will remain available during the weekend of 5–6 September.
Work will include inspections and repairs to the asphalt and markings, checks of electrical systems and cabling, drainage cleaning, grass cutting and the cleaning or replacement of runway lights.
Flights that would normally use Runway 09/27 will be reassigned to other runways. Runway 06 (Kaagbaan) may be used more frequently for departures towards the north-east, while Runway 04/22 (Oostbaan) will provide an alternative for arriving aircraft. Other runways may also be used depending on wind and operational conditions.
The temporary changes could result in additional flights over communities beneath the alternative approach and departure paths. Schiphol advises local residents to consult the Local Community Contact Centre Schiphol for current runway information or noise-related enquiries.
