Schiphol Airport plans to cancel a previously scheduled 5% charge increase for 2026 to help keep flights affordable for airlines and passengers. The move follows a steep 41% rise in 2025, introduced to fund quality improvements and encourage the use of quieter aircraft.
The airport says strong financial performance and feedback from airlines prompted the proposal, which includes a voluntary contribution from Schiphol to offset the planned hike. This aims to balance investment needs with cost competitiveness.
Consultations with airlines are ongoing, and a final decision on 2026 charges is expected by the end of October.
