Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will close its Polderbaan Runway (18R/36L) from 13 to 24 October 2025 for annual maintenance and major works on Taxiway C. During this period, the runway will be unavailable for air traffic.
Flights that would normally use the Polderbaan will instead operate from Zwanenburgbaan (18C/36C) and Buitenveldertbaan (09/27). At night, operations will be limited to the Zwanenburgbaan.
The works include asphalt and marking repairs, electrical inspections, drainage cleaning, and lighting upgrades. On Taxiway C, deeper asphalt layers will be renewed, and old halogen lamps will be replaced by energy-efficient LED lighting to improve safety and sustainability.
Once completed, routine maintenance on the Zwanenburgbaan Runway will follow from 27 October to 4 November, also in combination with works on Taxiway C.
Schiphol warns that during the maintenance period, more aircraft may temporarily fly over areas under the flight paths of the alternative runways.
