Amsterdam Airport Schiphol handled 68.8 million travellers in 2025, a 2.9% year-on-year increase, reinforcing its role as a key global hub. The airport connected The Netherlands directly to 301 destinations worldwide, including 125 intercontinental routes.

A total of 477,552 flights operated to and from Schiphol during the year (+1% vs. 2024). Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, the United States and Turkey were the most popular destinations, with Spain taking the top spot from the UK.

Connectivity remains a major strength: according to the ACI Airport Industry Connectivity Report 2025, Schiphol ranks second in Europe for direct connectivity, third in Europe for hub connectivity, and fifth globally.

Of all travellers, 43.6 million flew directly to or from Schiphol, while 25.2 million used the airport as a transfer hub. European routes accounted for 48.9 million passengers, while 19.9 million travelled on intercontinental services.

The shift toward quieter aircraft continued in 2025. Between April and December, 32.6% of flights used aircraft in the two quietest noise categories—an increase of 8.8 percentage points year on year. Forecasts for the next operating year indicate aircraft will be 15% quieter during the day and 32% quieter at night, supported by differentiated airport charges that also discourage night flying.

Cargo activity declined modestly. Schiphol handled 1.43 million tonnes of cargo in 2025, down 4% from 2024, with 15,348 cargo-only flights, a 2% decrease year on year.

These figures are preliminary; final traffic and transport data will be confirmed with Schiphol’s financial results in February.
