Amsterdam Airport Schiphol will carry out annual maintenance on the Zwanenburgbaan runway (18C/36C) from Monday 18 May to Wednesday 27 May 2026. During weekdays in this period, the runway will be unavailable for flight operations, while it will remain available during the weekend and on Monday 25 May.
Aircraft normally using the Zwanenburgbaan will mainly be redirected to the Polderbaan (18R/36L) and Kaagbaan (06/24). Depending on wind conditions, the Buitenveldertbaan (09/27) and Schiphol-Oostbaan (04/22) may also see increased use.
The maintenance programme includes asphalt and runway marking repairs, inspections of electrical systems and cabling, drainage cleaning, grass mowing, and airfield lighting maintenance. The work is being carried out in cooperation with construction company Heijmans.
At the same time, Schiphol will renew Taxiways A and B, two key taxi routes connected to the Zwanenburgbaan. Combining the projects is intended to minimise operational disruption and reduce inconvenience for passengers and local residents.
Schiphol noted that residents under the flight paths of the alternative runways may temporarily experience more aircraft movements during the maintenance period. Updates on runway usage and air traffic operations will be provided through the Local Community Contact Centre Schiphol (BAS) and Schiphol communication channels.
