Last night, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol was named CAPA Airport of the Year 2017 in the category of airports with more than 30 million passengers a year. The award was presented to Schiphol CEO Jos Nijhuis.
Global leader among airports

Every year, CAPA, the Centre for Aviation, presents awards to airports that play an important strategic role in aviation.

CAPA: ‘With over 68 million national and international passengers annually, Schiphol demonstrates itself to be a globally leading airport in a relatively small country. Furthermore, Schiphol is one of the very few airports of this size that still uses the single terminal concept, in combination with six runways. Schiphol Group is preparing for the future by focusing on business and long-distance passengers and moving low-cost and charter airlines to nearby Lelystad Airport. This well-designed airport is one of the most important in the world.

Proud
We are very happy to win this award, and also very proud,’ says CEO Jos Nijhuis. ‘It represents a recognition of our hard work. Every day, we ensure countless connections between the Netherlands and the rest of the world. From air traffic controllers to the ground team, from pilot to security staff – this award belongs to all of us!
