Royal Schiphol Group has selected a new team of in-house architects to deliver its long-term Schiphol Master Plan, aimed at improving passenger experience, design consistency, and sustainability across the airport.
Four firms have been chosen following a European tender. KAAN Architecten will act as lead architect, defining the overall design vision. LVZJA will oversee key passenger areas, including lounges, piers, and landside facilities, while Architectenbureau Paul de Ruiter will design departure halls, baggage areas, and security zones. Beacon will provide technical and aviation expertise.
The programme involves extensive terminal renovations to restore Schiphol’s original “one terminal” concept—focused on simplicity, clear wayfinding, and passenger comfort—while addressing capacity growth. A unified design approach will ensure a consistent, recognisable look across the airport.
Overall, the initiative is intended to enhance quality, operational efficiency, and sustainability, supporting Schiphol’s ambition to return to the top tier of European hub airports.
