VINCI Airports handled 93.5 million passengers in the third quarter of 2026, down 0.6% year-on-year, as growth at several European and Latin American airports largely offset weaker performance in Asia and Chile. Traffic across the network remained broadly stable over the first nine months of the year.

Budapest was among the strongest performers, recording 12% passenger growth as Wizz Air and Ryanair expanded services to Southern Europe. In Portugal, Porto grew by 7.1% and Faro by 3.7%. Belgrade benefited from strong Western European routes, while additional capacity from Ryanair, easyJet and Jet2 supported growth at Edinburgh, particularly on Mediterranean services.

Outside Europe, stronger connections with European markets boosted Cabo Verde’s airports. Mexican airports benefited from domestic regional traffic, while GOL’s expansion supported Salvador Bahia in Brazil. Airports in the Dominican Republic also recorded growth, driven by services to Spain, neighbouring Caribbean islands and Latin America.

The picture was weaker in Asia. Traffic at VINCI’s Japanese airports fell by 8.8%, which the operator attributed to tensions between China and Japan. Cambodia also recorded a decline amid reduced demand from China and Thailand. Santiago Airport in Chile saw traffic contract, with VINCI citing high fuel prices and airline schedule adjustments during the southern hemisphere winter.

At London Gatwick, the decline moderated to 2.9%. Restructuring of low-cost carriers’ medium-haul networks continued to weigh on traffic, although strong summer demand for Spain and Jet2’s deployment of five aircraft at the airport provided some support.
