Passenger demand across Swedavia’s ten airports continued to strengthen in February 2026, with just over 2.2 million travellers, marking a 7% increase year-on-year. Growth was recorded in both international and domestic segments, signalling a broad-based recovery in the Swedish market.

International passenger numbers rose 6%, while domestic travel outperformed with a 9% increase compared to February 2025. Swedavia attributed the positive trend to improved connectivity and sustained demand, though it cautioned that geopolitical uncertainty could influence traffic patterns in the coming months.

Arlanda Leads Growth

Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Sweden’s largest airport, handled just over 1.6 million passengers, up 7% year-on-year.

  • International traffic: nearly 1.3 million passengers (+7%)

  • Domestic traffic: just over 330,000 passengers (+8%)

At Göteborg Landvetter Airport, total passenger numbers reached 334,000, representing a 2% increase. Both international (just under 300,000) and domestic (just over 35,000) traffic rose by 2%.

Strong Regional Performance

Among regional airports, Visby Airport posted the strongest growth at +24%, followed by Umeå Airport at +16%.

Kiruna Airport and Luleå Airport both exceeded pre-pandemic (2019) passenger levels, each recording a 2% increase year-on-year. Luleå also set a new February passenger record.

In contrast, Stockholm Bromma Airport handled just over 4,000 passengers in February, equating to slightly above 2% of its 2019 traffic levels.

New Routes Launching in March

Swedavia’s network will expand further in March 2026 with several new routes:

From Stockholm Arlanda:

  • Tirana and Bucharest (Wizz Air)

  • Stavanger (Finnair)

  • Trapani (Ryanair)

From Göteborg Landvetter:

  • Tuzla (Wizz Air)

  • Riga (Norwegian)

From Malmö:

  • Warsaw (Ryanair)

From Umeå:

Overall, February’s figures confirm sustained momentum in Sweden’s aviation market, with international and domestic demand advancing in parallel despite a volatile geopolitical backdrop.
