Swedavia closes 2025 with solid growth as international and domestic demand strengthens

Share

Swedavia reported continued recovery in air travel across its ten airports in December 2025, with passenger numbers rising by eight percent year over year. Growth was driven equally by international and domestic travel, confirming sustained demand toward the end of the year.

For the full year 2025, total passenger traffic increased by two percent compared with 2024, following weaker growth early in the year. International traffic rose by three percent, while domestic travel remained broadly stable. During the year, Swedavia added 37 new scheduled routes, welcomed eight new airlines, and opened 23 new destinations, with Stockholm Arlanda accounting for the majority of route development.

In December alone, approximately 2.5 million passengers travelled through Swedavia’s airports. Stockholm Arlanda handled just over 1.8 million passengers, up 14 percent year over year, with international travel exceeding pre-pandemic December 2019 levels by five percent. Göteborg Landvetter recorded six percent growth, serving around 380,000 passengers.

International travel across the network nearly returned to 2019 levels in December, while domestic travel recovered to around two-thirds of pre-pandemic volumes. Airports in northern Sweden stood out, with Kiruna and Luleå surpassing 2019 domestic traffic levels and setting new December records.

For the full year, Arlanda posted nearly seven percent passenger growth, supported by strong domestic expansion, while Landvetter grew by just under two percent. Freight volumes also strengthened, increasing by five percent compared with 2024, underlining a broadly positive performance across Swedavia’s airport portfolio.
