More than 3.3 million passengers travelled through Swedavia’s ten airports in August 2026, an increase of 3% compared with the same month last year.
Growth was primarily driven by international travel, which rose by 3% and broadly returned to pre-pandemic levels. Domestic passenger numbers remained stable despite airlines offering less capacity than in August 2025.
Stockholm Arlanda handled more than 2.4 million passengers, up 2%. International traffic reached a record for the second consecutive month, rising by just over 3% to 2.1 million passengers. This exceeded the previous August record, established in 2018, by approximately 16,000 travellers. Domestic traffic nevertheless declined by 4% to just over 324,000 passengers.
Gothenburg Landvetter welcomed approximately 566,000 passengers, representing growth of 4%. International traffic increased by 4% to 524,000 passengers, while domestic travel rose by 11% to almost 42,000.
Swedavia’s eight other airports recorded combined growth, led by Malmö at 16% and Visby at 13%. Bromma handled just over 9,600 passengers, equivalent to only 5% of its August 2019 traffic.
Swedavia said demand remained stable despite continuing uncertainty surrounding the Middle East and the approaching winter season.
