Frankfurt Airport returns to growth in Q2 2025 amid rising passenger numbers

Share

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) handled around 5.8 million passengers in June 2025, marking a 2.9% year-on-year increase and continuing a four-month growth streak. Boosted by late Whitsun holidays and strong demand for European sun destinations, this momentum lifted first-half passenger numbers to 29.1 million (+1.4%).

Traffic to Latin America rose 2.8%, while Middle East demand dropped 7.8% amid geopolitical tensions. North American traffic remained stable.

CEO Dr. Stefan Schulte urged swift government action to maintain Germany’s aviation competitiveness, highlighting Frankfurt’s improved punctuality and shorter wait times thanks to tech upgrades.

While cargo dipped 2.3% in June, aircraft movements rose 4.9%.

Across Fraport’s international network, total passenger traffic grew 5.5% to 19.9 million. Strong gains were seen in Brazil (+125.4%, driven by one-off factors), Bulgaria (+14.2%), and Slovenia (+10.4%), with modest increases in Greece, Turkey, and Peru.
