Avinor recorded 4 million passengers across its airport network in November, a 1.5 percent increase compared with the same month last year, sustaining a steady upward trend in Norwegian air travel. Year to date, passenger numbers are up 3.3 percent.
Domestic traffic reached 2.5 million passengers, a rise of 0.7 percent, while international traffic saw stronger momentum with 1.5 million passengers—up 2.6 percent. International travel has grown 3.7 percent so far in 2025.
According to Gaute S. Riise, Director of Traffic Development, the strongest gains continue to come from Norway’s smallest airports. “Growth is driven by tourism and increased subsidisation of PSO routes, which lowers ticket prices,” he said. While the four major airports—Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, and Stavanger—grew by 1 percent combined, the remaining 39 airports posted a 3 percent increase.
Commercial aircraft movements held flat at 50,000 in November, unchanged from last year. Cumulatively, movements have reached 584,000 in 2025, representing a 1.9 percent rise.
“November is traditionally a quiet month in aviation, but the figures still show a positive trend,” noted Gaute R. Skallerud. “International traffic continues to drive growth, while domestic traffic remains stable.”
Drone activity also saw marked expansion. Avinor registered 1,985 drone flights in November, a 15 percent increase compared with the same period in 2024. Year-to-date drone operations are up 30 percent.
“These are high figures considering challenging winter conditions,” said Nikola Tufekcic, Head of Unmanned Aviation. “Drone activity continues to grow during the winter months.”
Avinor, which manages 44 state-owned airports and air navigation services, continues to advance sustainability initiatives, including electric aircraft development and the supply of sustainable aviation fuel.
