Nearly 5 million passengers travelled through Norwegian airports in August 2025, a 4% increase compared with last year. Growth was strong in both domestic and international traffic.
Bergen Airport (Flesland) posted its third consecutive record month, with traffic up 6% year-on-year and 11% above 2019 levels. Northern Norway also saw robust demand, with airports north of Trondheim recording 11% growth over 2024 and 14% above 2019, largely driven by tourism.
Air traffic movements totalled 56,000 in August (+3% vs. 2024), bringing the year-to-date increase to 2%.
At Oslo Airport, however, growth remains weaker than at competing hubs Stockholm Arlanda and Copenhagen Kastrup, raising concerns about Norway’s competitiveness and connectivity.
Drone activity reached new heights:
Avinor highlights both the resilient summer demand and the responsible rise of drone use, while noting that winter growth is likely to be more moderate due to reduced airline capacity.
