In May 2025, 4.5 million passengers travelled through Avinor airports, matching figures from May 2024. International traffic saw a slight 1% year-on-year dip for the month but remains up 6% year-to-date. Domestic travel held steady, with a 3% year-to-date increase.
Public holidays and runway resurfacing at Bergen Airport impacted traffic patterns, causing some flight reductions. Avinor expects increased activity during the summer peak, with a 2% rise in international and 1% rise in domestic travel forecast from June to August. June 20th is expected to be the summer’s busiest travel day.
Commercial flight movements in May totalled 55,000—slightly higher than last year—with a 2% year-to-date increase. Freight volumes rose sharply, up 12.4% in May and 7.9% year-to-date, driven by seafood exports and Asian e-commerce imports.
Drone activity reached a new milestone, with over 3,000 flights registered in Avinor’s Ninox Drone system in May—a 17% year-on-year rise—highlighting growing commitment to safe drone operations.
