Avinor recorded stable air traffic levels across its airports in April 2026, while overall passenger numbers for the year to date continued to show solid growth.
A total of 4.3 million passengers travelled through Avinor airports during April, broadly unchanged compared with the same month last year. However, traffic for the first four months of 2026 reached 16.2 million passengers, representing a growth of three percent year-on-year.
Commercial aircraft movements increased slightly in April to 52,838 flights, up one percent from 2025 levels. Domestic traffic drove the increase, with flight movements rising two percent, while international aircraft movements fell by three percent. Year-to-date aircraft activity remained stable overall at nearly 198,000 commercial movements.
Oslo Airport handled 2.18 million passengers in April, down one percent compared with last year, although traffic at Norway’s main hub remains two percent higher overall for 2026. Bergen Airport Flesland posted the strongest monthly growth among the major airports with a six percent increase, while Stavanger Airport recorded growth of one percent.
Passenger traffic at Trondheim and Tromsø declined slightly during the month, though regional airports collectively showed modest growth.
Joachim Lupnaav Johnsen said demand for air travel remains resilient despite geopolitical uncertainty and concerns over aviation fuel supply linked to the conflict in the Middle East.
Avinor also reported continued growth in drone activity. A total of 2,685 drone flight plans were registered in April, up three percent year-on-year. The airport operator urged drone users to continue following safety rules, particularly near airport restricted zones.
