April 2025 saw 4.3 million passengers through Avinor airports — a 3% rise year-on-year. International traffic surged by 11% for the month and is up 8% year-to-date, driven mainly by inbound travellers to Norway. Domestic traffic dipped slightly in April (down 1%) but remains up 4% overall in 2025.
The timing of Easter (in April this year vs. March in 2024) boosted international numbers while slightly suppressing domestic figures, according to Avinor’s Traffic Development Director, Gaute Skallerud Riise.
Flight movements dropped 3% in April but are still up 2% for the year. Passenger growth varied by region: Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, and Stavanger each rose by 3%, while regional airports saw stronger momentum — Tromsø led with a notable 14% jump.
Cargo also took off, with an 18% increase year-on-year in April.
In drone aviation, April marked a milestone: over 15,000 users are now registered in Avinor’s Ninox Drone platform. Drone flight plans rose 25% compared to last April, reflecting stronger engagement and compliance as the peak flying season begins.
