Avinor reported a steady rise in passenger traffic in September 2025, with 4.9 million travellers passing through its airports — a 2% increase year-on-year. Growth was driven by strong international demand, as over two million passengers flew between Norway and foreign destinations, up 3% from September 2024.
Tourism remains a key factor behind the increase, with Bergen (+11%), Evenes (+11%), and Tromsø (+6%) showing the strongest international growth. In contrast, larger hubs such as Oslo (+1%), Stavanger (+1%), and Trondheim (0%) saw slower overall gains, raising concerns about Oslo’s long-term development as the national hub.
Flight efficiency also improved, with a record-high September load factor of 74.5%, indicating fuller planes and demand outpacing available seats. Total flight movements rose 1% to 66,578.
Separately, responsible drone use is on the rise: 3,320 drone flight plans were registered in September — a 15% year-on-year increase — bringing the 2025 total to 25,344, as Avinor continues promoting safe and visible drone operations.
