Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air will operate a special charter flight transporting Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his delegation to Washington, D.C., this Friday. The mission, described by the airline as an honour, was announced by Wizz Air’s leadership via Világgazdaság.

The large government delegation, which includes Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, other cabinet members, and business leaders, will travel aboard one of Wizz Air’s new Airbus A321XLR aircraft — the airline’s longest-range model, capable of flying up to 8,700 kilometres nonstop.

“The company is honoured to transport the Hungarian Prime Minister and his delegation to Washington as part of an official government trip,” Wizz Air said. The aircraft received a special one-time permit from U.S. aviation authorities to perform the transatlantic flight.

The route from Budapest to Washington (7,350 km) exceeds the range of Wizz Air’s standard A320neo fleet, but falls well within the limits of the A321XLR, which entered service with the airline earlier this year.

While the flight has drawn public attention for its symbolic nickname — “Wizz Force One” — the airline emphasised that it is using a standard, unmodified passenger jet, configured for this specific VIP charter.

In recent years, Wizz Air has occasionally conducted special assignment or VIP flights, but this marks the first transatlantic government mission undertaken by the Budapest-based carrier.
