Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air will resume operations at Warsaw-Modlin Airport in December 2025, launching 11 new routes to 8 countries after a 13-year absence. The airline will base two Airbus A321neo aircraft at Modlin and offer over 500,000 seats annually, creating more than 80 local jobs.
Key route launch dates:
- Dec 1: Athens, Barcelona, Bergen
- Dec 2: Bergamo, Chisinau, Paphos
- Dec 15–16: Malta, Sofia, Brindisi, Palermo
- Mar 31, 2026: Alghero (Sardinia)
Most routes will run 3–5 times weekly, with daily service to Bergamo and six weekly flights to Malta in winter.
Wizz Air chose Modlin for its proximity to Warsaw, preferring it over Radom Airport. The airline aims to grow its seat capacity in Poland by nearly 20% in 2025, maintaining its position as the country’s second-largest carrier with a 25% market share.
The move follows Ryanair’s announcement of a major Modlin expansion, including 25 new routes and an expected increase to 5 million passengers annually by 2030. Air Arabia also plans to launch Sharjah–Modlin flights in December.
Modlin Airport sees Wizz Air’s return as a major step toward becoming a key low-cost hub in Central Europe.
