Wizz Air reaches major milestone with delivery of 250th aircraft

Share

Wizz Air has taken delivery of its 250th aircraft, marking a major milestone for Europe’s fastest-growing airline and the largest carrier in Central and Eastern Europe. The achievement places Wizz Air halfway toward its long-term ambition of operating a 500-aircraft fleet.

The newest addition to the fleet reflects more than just numerical growth. For Wizz Air, the 250-aircraft milestone represents two decades of rapid expansion, disciplined strategy, and the sustained efforts of its employees, partners, and supporters across its network.

“This milestone is a defining moment in Wizz Air’s history,” said József Váradi, the airline’s CEO. “Our 250th aircraft symbolises bold decisions, relentless innovation, and the shared vision of thousands who believe in making flying more affordable. Our momentum has never been stronger—and doubling our fleet in the next decade is now firmly within reach.”

A Strong Partnership with Airbus

Airbus also celebrated the accomplishment.
“This is a powerful demonstration of more than 20 years of successful collaboration,” said Johan Pelissier, President Region Europe at Airbus. With over 260 A320 Family aircraft still on order, including the A321neo, Airbus noted that Wizz Air is set to maintain one of Europe’s youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets.

SMBC Aviation Capital, which supported the delivery, echoed the sentiment. CEO Peter Barrett highlighted the significance of being part of Wizz Air’s journey and reaffirmed the leasing company’s commitment to supplying modern, fuel-efficient aircraft.

Special Livery and Customer Celebration

The 250th aircraft was unveiled in a special livery chosen through Wizz Air’s global design competition—an initiative that drew entries from fans, designers, and employees worldwide. The winning design celebrates the airline’s past achievements and future ambition.

To mark the occasion, Wizz Air launched a major promotional campaign offering up to 30% off selected flights between December 1, 2025, and March 26, 2026. Tickets are available through wizzair.com and the WIZZ mobile app.

Looking Ahead

Wizz Air plans to continue expanding in high-demand markets while focusing on punctuality, reliability, and customer experience. With a young, efficient Airbus fleet and an aggressive growth trajectory, the airline sees its 250th aircraft not as a finish line but as the start of an even more ambitious chapter.
