Wizz Air has announced the launch of a new base in Yerevan, further expanding its presence in the South Caucasus with eight new direct routes set to begin this autumn. The move marks a significant boost for Armenia’s international connectivity and low-cost travel options.
Starting October 1, 2025, the Hungarian budget airline will connect the Armenian capital to cities in Germany, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Cyprus, and Romania, offering flights at affordable prices with frequencies ranging from two to three times per week.
This expansion follows Wizz Air’s broader strategy of growing its Eastern European network and responding to rising travel demand between Armenia and the EU. With this new base, Wizz Air is expected to stimulate local tourism, create new jobs, and make Armenia more accessible to travellers from Western and Central Europe.
The airline has not yet confirmed how many aircraft will be stationed at the Yerevan base, but the new routes are expected to be operated by the Airbus A320 family, consistent with Wizz Air’s fleet strategy.
This development cements Wizz Air’s role as a key player in Armenia’s aviation sector, positioning Yerevan as a growing regional hub for budget air travel.
