Wizz Air has celebrated its first flight from Bordeaux, marking the launch of three new routes connecting southwestern France to Rome, Venice, and Bucharest. The expansion strengthens the airline’s footprint in France and offers travellers more affordable options across Europe.

The first new route, Bordeaux–Rome Fiumicino, was inaugurated today with three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday). The Bordeaux–Bucharest service begins 29 October with two weekly flights (Wednesday, Sunday), while Bordeaux–Venice launches 2 December, also operating three times weekly (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).

Marion Geoffroy, People Officer at Wizz Air, said:

“We are thrilled to offer new, convenient, and affordable connections from Bordeaux to Rome, Venice, and Bucharest. These destinations open up exciting opportunities for travellers – from cultural getaways to year-round city breaks.”

Wizz Air continues to expand its French network, having carried over 22 million passengers since launching operations in the country in 2004. The airline operates one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets in the world, with over 70% of its aircraft being Airbus A321neo models, averaging just 4.5 years old.

As part of its sustainability strategy, Wizz Air aims to cut carbon intensity by 25% by 2030 and power 10% of flights with SAF. In FY2025, its emissions intensity stood at 52.2g CO? per passenger-kilometre.

With these new connections, Wizz Air reinforces Bordeaux’s position as a growing European gateway, supporting tourism and economic growth while keeping air travel accessible.
