Wizz Air launches flights from Maastricht Aachen Airport, adds Chisinau and Katowice routes

Low-cost carrier Wizz Air is expanding its footprint in the Netherlands with the launch of new operations from Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST), beginning this winter. The airline will introduce flights to Chisinau, Moldova, in winter 2025, followed by a second route to Katowice, Poland, in summer 2026.

The five-year agreement between Wizz Air and MST is expected to attract up to 94,000 passengers annually.

“We are delighted to launch operations from Maastricht Aachen Airport and offer passengers in Limburg easy access to unique destinations in Eastern Europe,” said Anastasia Novak, Wizz Air’s Manager of Corporate Communications.

Strategic Growth for MST

The partnership is a milestone in MST’s long-term strategy to become a future-proof regional airport by 2030. According to Dean Boljuncic, Head of Commercial Development at MAA, the deal will boost regional accessibility, economic activity, and employment, while also supporting migrant workers and international students with ties to Eastern Europe.

Focus on Sustainability

Wizz Air will operate the routes using Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft, which are quieter and more fuel-efficient, producing significantly lower CO? and NOx emissions than older models, contributing to more sustainable airport operations.

With this move, MAA not only strengthens its position in international aviation, but also enhances its role as a vital economic engine for the Limburg region.
