Wizz Air announced the allocation of a sixth aircraft to its Vienna base. The new Airbus A321 will join the fleet in the middle of December, enabling the start of six new long-awaited services from Vienna to Alicante, Bremen, Chisinau, Naples, Oslo and Porto and the increase of frequencies of the airline’s existing Eindhoven and Tel Aviv routes. The new low fare routes are already on sale on wizzair.com with fares starting as low as EUR 14.99.

WIZZ opened its Austrian base in Vienna International Airport in June 2018 and after only one year of successful operations, the airline announced the further expansion, growing its fleet to six Airbus aircraft. The new Airbus A321 aircraft represents an investment of further $118 million** by Wizz Air into the Austrian aviation market and will contribute to the creation of over forty new direct jobs with Wizz Air. Together with these six new services Wizz Air now offers 38 routes to 23 countries from Vienna.

WIZZ, the pioneer of low-fare air travel across Europe and in Austria, is continuously expanding its network by bringing affordable travel opportunities combined with great onboard experience between Vienna and the rest of Europe. In 2018 the airline has carried nearly 500 000 passengers on its Austrian routes its very first year at the Austrian capital. Together with the six new routes, and the frequency increases announced today Wizz Air will offer almost 3 million seats in the airline’s Austrian network in 2020, which represents a 21% year on year growth. WIZZ’s fast-growing operations in the country will further stimulate the local economy, by increasing employment in Austria’s aviation and tourism sectors and supporting more than 1,800 local jobs in the associated industries in 2019.
