Wizz Air is rolling out its WIZZ Class seating option across its entire network, following strong passenger demand during a limited trial at six major operating bases. The expanded availability officially began on 9 February, marking another step in the airline’s effort to enhance passenger comfort while maintaining its ultra-low-cost business model.
Strong Demand Drives Expansion
Initially launched on selected routes from Budapest, Bucharest Otopeni, Warsaw, London Luton, London Gatwick and Rome Fiumicino, WIZZ Class exceeded the airline’s expectations. The product proved particularly popular among business travellers and passengers seeking extra comfort without paying traditional premium-class fares.
Silvia Mosquera, Wizz Air’s Commercial Officer, said the positive customer response made the decision to expand the offering straightforward.
She noted that even during its limited rollout, WIZZ Class demonstrated significant demand, confirming that passengers value additional space and convenience within the airline’s efficient cabin model.
Extra Comfort Without Cabin Redesign
WIZZ Class is designed as a lightweight premium add-on rather than a traditional business-class product. Passengers booking the service receive a blocked middle seat in the aircraft’s first row — seats 1B and 1E — creating additional personal space. The first row also provides increased legroom, further enhancing onboard comfort.
The service is available as an optional upgrade during the booking process when customers select Smart or Plus fare bundles. These packages already include priority boarding and a 10-kilogram carry-on allowance. WIZZ Class passengers additionally receive a complimentary non-alcoholic drink and snack.
By simply blocking middle seats instead of installing a dedicated premium cabin, Wizz Air avoids costly aircraft reconfiguration while still offering an enhanced travel experience. The approach allows the airline to maintain its high-density seating layout and cost-efficient operations, which remain central to its low-fare strategy.
Targeting Business and Comfort-Oriented Travellers
The network-wide rollout signals Wizz Air’s growing focus on diversifying its product offering and appealing to a broader passenger base. As competition intensifies across European short- and medium-haul markets, low-cost carriers increasingly seek to attract business travellers and passengers willing to pay modest premiums for added comfort and flexibility.
With WIZZ Class now available across its route network, Wizz Air aims to strengthen its ancillary revenue streams while offering travellers a more comfortable alternative within the low-cost travel segment.
