Wizz Air is set to significantly expand its operations at Milan Malpensa Airport, announcing the addition of a 10th based aircraft and a broad network expansion aimed at boosting connectivity and capacity.
The new aircraft, due to be deployed from 25 October 2026, will add around 500,000 seats annually and support the creation of 40 direct jobs, alongside more than 350 indirect roles. The move reinforces Malpensa’s position as the airline’s second-largest base in Italy and a key hub within its European network.
As part of the expansion, Wizz Air will launch five new international routes linking Milan with Dortmund, Bilbao, Cluj-Napoca, Ia?i and Palma de Mallorca. Services will begin between May and October 2026, with frequencies ranging from three weekly to daily operations.
The airline is also strengthening its domestic offering, introducing new connections to Naples and Palermo. Flights to Naples will increase to double daily from September, while capacity to southern Italy will be further supported by up to 22 weekly services to Catania and up to seven weekly flights to Lampedusa.
Additional frequency increases are planned on several high-demand international routes, including Corfu, Heraklion, Tirana, Valencia and Warsaw, reflecting continued strong passenger demand.
The expansion is being carried out in partnership with SEA Milan Airports and forms part of Wizz Air’s wider growth strategy in Italy. The airline plans to offer 27 million seats in the country in 2026, operating 36 aircraft across six bases and a network spanning 290 routes to 33 countries.
Wizz Air said the investment underlines its long-term commitment to the Milan market, with fares on the new routes starting from €14.99.
