Wizz Air announced yesterday the allocation of a third aircraft to Chisinau. The new Airbus A320 will join the fleet in December, enabling the increase of frequencies of the airline’s existing 8 routes and the start of four new routes from Chisinau. Passengers can already plan their trips to picturesque Prague, beaches and sun in Larnaca, business and cultural centre in northern Italy – Turin or to South Yorkshire county in England.
WIZZ started operations from Chisinau International Airport in 2013 and established a base there in March 2017. After 6 years of successful operations, the airline announced further great expansion at its Moldovan base by allocating a third Airbus A320 aircraft in December 2019. The new aircraft represents another $101 million investment** into the Moldovan aviation market and will contribute to the creation of over thirty new direct jobs with Wizz Air. The four new routes will commence in December 2019, altogether WIZZ now offers 18 routes to 10 countries.
WIZZ is continuously expanding its network by bringing affordable travel opportunities combined with great onboard experience between Chisinau and the rest of Europe. In 2018 the airline has carried 432,300 passengers on its Moldovan routes, representing a 30% year on year growth. The new routes will bring 150,000 incremental seats in 2020, thanks to which WIZZ will break 1 million seats on sale mark in the next year. WIZZ’s fast-growing operation in the country will further stimulate the local economy, by increasing employment in Moldova’s aviation and tourism sectors.
