Wizz Air has announced a major expansion in Bucharest, adding a second aircraft to its base at Baneasa Airport and launching six new routes from Otopeni Airport this October. The move includes the relocation of nine existing routes from Otopeni to Baneasa, five of which will operate exclusively from the secondary airport.
Starting October 26, routes to Milan Bergamo, Barcelona, Brussels-Charleroi, and Turin will operate from both airports, while flights to Basel, Frankfurt Hahn, Memmingen, Nice, and Athens will run solely from Baneasa. This brings the total to 42 weekly flights from Baneasa.
Meanwhile, six new destinations will launch from Otopeni: Brindisi, Cologne, Gdansk, Porto, Pescara, and Bratislava. Fares start as low as RON 79.
Wizz Air now offers 204 routes from Romania, operating from 13 airports and employing over 1,600 people. The expansion underscores Bucharest’s strategic importance and Wizz Air’s commitment to affordable, efficient, and sustainable travel across the region.
