Wizz Air reached a remarkable milestone at Warsaw International Airport as it celebrated 60 million carried passengers on its Polish low fare routes. To mark this significant event, one lucky passenger, a WIZZ travel enthusiast travelling to Rome was greeted with a WIZZ value voucher.
The first WIZZ flight took off from Poland, Katowice in May 2004 and since then the airline has continuously increased its network, offering now a total of 160 routes to 30 countries from 8 Polish airports. The arrival of 2 new aircraft in 2018 to Warsaw and Katowice is increasing the fleet in Poland to 26 aircraft and supports Wizz Air’s continuous expansion in Poland. With more than 10.5 million seats on sale on its Polish routes, WIZZ’s seat capacity has increased with 19% year on year, which further contributes to the country’s economy and stimulating the job market in aviation services and tourism sectors, by supporting over 6,000 jobs per year and employing more than 1,000 aviation professional with Wizz Air*.
Further diversifying the low fare network from Poland, WIZZ is inaugurating in total 21 new services this year with fares as low as PLN 39** (EUR 9.99), including the new routes that are commencing this month from Katowice to Faro, Kharkiv, Málaga, Memmingen, Podgorica, and Porto and from Warsaw to Podgorica.
Wizz Air continues to bring ever more people into the world of flying by further stimulating the market with its low fares and creating new travel opportunities. In just 14 years after the start of operations, over 155 million passengers have travelled with WIZZ across Europe and beyond. This month the airline’s fleet has grown to 100 aircraft as it continues to expand its network of now more than 600 routes, with over 100 routes commencing in 2018 and 2019.
