Just a week after unveiling flights to Lublin, Wizz Air has announced another new route from Maastricht Aachen Airport (MST) — a direct service to Podgorica, Montenegro’s capital, starting 31 March 2026. The route will operate three times per week, expanding Wizz Air’s Maastricht network to six destinations.
From the start of the 2026 summer season, Wizz Air will serve:
- Chisinau, Moldova (3x weekly)
- Bucharest, Romania (2x weekly)
- Katowice, Poland (4x weekly)
- Lublin, Poland (2x weekly)
- Podgorica, Montenegro (3x weekly)
- Tuzla, Bosnia (2x weekly, from December 2025)
In total, the airline will operate 16 weekly flights from Limburg’s regional airport.
“The addition of Podgorica underscores Wizz Air’s confidence in our airport,” said Dean Boljuncic, Head of Commercial Development at MAA. “This new route strengthens our connections with Southeast Europe and provides travellers with direct, convenient links to the region. Together with our partners, we are building a future-proof MAA that drives Limburg’s economic growth.”
Podgorica offers a blend of historic Balkan charm and modern vibrancy, featuring landmarks such as the Stara Varos Clock Tower and the ancient ruins of Doclea. Its central location makes it an ideal starting point for exploring Montenegro’s Adriatic coast and Lake Skadar National Park.
Wizz Air will operate the route using its Airbus A321neo aircraft, which offers 239 seats and delivers lower CO? emissions and reduced noise levels.
The expansion supports MAA’s strategic goal to become a future-proof regional airport, targeting 600,000 passengers and 200,000 tonnes of freight annually by 2030.
