Wizz Air adds Malmö–Podgorica route for summer 2026 expansion

Wizz Air continues its growth at Malmö Airport with the launch of a new direct route to Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. The service will begin on 29 March 2026, operating four times a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) with an Airbus A321 seating 239 passengers.

The new route further strengthens Malmö’s connectivity to eastern and southern Europe, offering travellers direct access to Montenegro’s cultural heritage, Adriatic landscapes, and culinary attractions.

“Wizz Air’s investment in an additional direct route from Malmö Airport is a clear sign of continued strong demand for international travel,” said Elizabeth Axtelius, Director Aviation Business at Swedavia. “Wizz Air plays an important role in linking Sweden to key markets in eastern and southern Europe, helping people connect for business, leisure, and family visits.”

Salvatore Gabriele Imperiale, Corporate Communication Manager at Wizz Air, added: “The new Malmö–Podgorica route reflects our commitment to offering Swedish passengers convenient and affordable travel options. Through our Customer First Compass initiative, we continue to focus on providing a seamless and enjoyable travel experience. This connection opens new opportunities for both Swedish and Montenegrin travelers to explore each other’s cultures.”

With the addition of Podgorica, Wizz Air continues to expand its Nordic network, reinforcing Malmö Airport’s position as a regional hub for low-cost connectivity to Europe.
