Wizz Air is expanding its operations in Moldova by basing a fifth aircraft at Chisinau International Airport from 18 September 2026 and increasing flight frequencies on ten European routes.
The move will add more than 500,000 seats to the airline’s Moldova operation and is expected to help Wizz Air surpass 3 million seats on sale in the country by the end of 2026.
The frequency increases will affect routes from Chisinau to several major European destinations, including Venice, Bergamo, Bologna and Verona in Italy; Paris and Nice in France; Brussels in Belgium; Berlin in Germany; Larnaca in Cyprus; and Prague in the Czech Republic.
According to the airline, the expansion will strengthen its dominant position in the Moldovan market, where it expects to hold a 62% market share after the additional aircraft enters service. Wizz Air currently operates 35 routes from Moldova to 16 countries.
Wizz Air said the extra capacity is aimed at meeting growing demand for leisure, business and visiting-friends-and-relatives travel, while also offering passengers more flexible schedules.
Officials at Chisinau Airport said the airline’s continued expansion highlights confidence in Moldova’s aviation market and supports the airport’s ambitions to develop as a regional connectivity hub.
