Wizz Air accelerates expansion in Poland with major growth in Gdansk and Wroclaw

Share

Wizz Air is reinforcing its leading position in Poland with significant expansions at both Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport and Wroclaw Airport, adding over one million extra seats across the two bases, new aircraft, and a total of 11 new routes.

In Gdansk, the airline will base its ninth Airbus A321neo, launching five new routes to Poprad-Tatry, Tallinn, Vilnius, Athens, and Nice, starting between December 2025 and May 2026. The expansion brings over 500,000 additional seats on 39 routes to 19 countries, underlining Gdansk’s role as a key hub in Wizz Air’s Polish network. CEO József Váradi described the move as a “vote of confidence in Poland and Gdansk,” supporting regional jobs and tourism.

In Wroclaw, Wizz Air will base a third Airbus A321neo in June 2026, adding six new routes—including Reykjavik, Dortmund, Varna, Gran Canaria, Catania, and Ohrid—alongside increased frequencies to popular destinations such as Barcelona, Bari, Tirana, and Malaga. The city’s network will expand to 22 routes across 17 countries, also adding over 500,000 new seats.

From January to October 2025, Wizz Air operated more than 50,000 flights in Poland, carrying over 11 million passengers—a 20% year-on-year increase—with a 99.8% completion rate, highlighting the airline’s strong reliability and sustained growth.

These parallel expansions in Gdansk and Wroclaw mark a new phase in Wizz Air’s Polish development strategy, strengthening connectivity, affordability, and regional economic impact across both Pomerania and Lower Silesia.
