Primera Air Nordic Boeing 737-800 overran runway 19 at Keflavík airport, Wizz Air diverts

Share

Shortly before 17:45 a Primera Air Nordic Boeing 737-800 from Alicante to Keflavík (Reykjavik) overran runway 19. The cause of the accident is likely ice on the runway and heavy snowfall. Nobody was injured in the accident on board the Icelandic airline.

As a result a Wizz Air Airbus from Budapest was required to turn back and divert to another airport (see Flightradar24 image)

The airport is working hard to re-open the runway.

Working for 25 years in the aviation industry, I changed my career and became a firefighter/EMT in 2021. I like to spend my free time with my two sons, girlfriend, family and friends. I love to travel, wine and dine and support my favourite football squad KV Mechelen. Once an Ironman 70.3 finisher and dreaming of completing a full distance.
