Both an Aer Lingus Airbus A330-300 (EI-GAJ) and a SWISS Boeing 777-300 (HB-JND) got damaged during a pushback/towing procedure. On Wednesday 23 May the Irish airline’s wingtip got damaged whilst under tow to gate G91 at San Francisco Airport, the tug driver misjudged the clearance and the wing contacted the building. Subsequent flight EI146 got cancelled, but today the aircraft is heading back to Dublin as EI2148.
On 18 May 2018 the SWISS Boeing 777 got damaged to its elevator when hitting a blast fence at Chicago-O’Hare Airport during pushback from its gate. But the damage seems to be minor as the aircraft departed back to Zurich on schedule.
