Boeing and WestJet have announced the Canadian carrier’s largest aircraft order to date: 67 new jets, bringing its total firm order book to 123 aeroplanes, the biggest in Canada.
- The order includes 60 737-10s (with options for 25 more) and seven 787-9 Dreamliners (with options for four more).
- With the new 787s, WestJet will double its Dreamliner fleet, supporting expansion across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
- The 737-10s will boost domestic and North American connectivity, offering the lowest cost per seat in the single-aisle market.
CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech said the aircraft will underpin WestJet’s growth, improve fuel efficiency, and support affordable travel. Boeing highlighted the order as a continuation of the partners’ 30-year relationship.
WestJet, which began in 1996 with just three 737s, now operates nearly 150 Boeing narrow-bodies. Its fleet is among the youngest in North America, with an average age of about 10 years.
