Italian Air Force scramble to intercept Vulkan Air Antonov AN-26B that lost communication with ATC

On 16 September, two Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon F-2000’s scrambled for a QRA (quick reaction alert) in order to intercept a Vulkan Air Antonov AN-26B (UR-CQD). The Ukrainian airline was operating flight VKA143 from Tangier, Morocco to Rome Fiumicino and lost communications with air traffic control. At 08:00 (UTC +2), the Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC) of Torrejon, Spain ordered the scramble. The aircraft was guided to Rome without further problems.
