Volotea reaches its 25 million passengers

• In 2019 Volotea is launching 41 new routes to serve 319 routes in 13 countries
• The airline has incorporated six Airbus A319 to reach 36 aircraft this year and expects to carry between 7.5 and 8 million passengers in 2019

Volotea, the airline connecting mid and small–sized European cities, started flying in 2012 and seven years later has reached its 25 million passengers. The airline has celebrated in Nantes airport with a special prize for the winner. 

Volotea started its operations in 2012, and since then has carried 25 million passengers. Charlotte Sugliani, who was flying from Nantes to Figari was awarded a year-long free flights prize to any Volotea destination from Nantes.

Moreover, Volotea will celebrate it until the 26^th with a special promotion in its website offering 25,000 tickets from €9 to all Volotea destinations.

Since Volotea started operations in Nantes in 2012, as the first Volotea’s base in France, the airline has carried four million passengers, increasing its number of customers year-on-year. In 2018, the airline has carried 970,000 passengers from Nantes, up by 25% in comparison to the previous year and achieving an average 93% seat load.

In 2019 Volotea operates in Nantes a total of 32 routes, 12 of which are exclusive, and offers 1.2 million seats, increasing its capacity by 10% this year.

Volotea grows profitably since 2014 and its turnover grew by 29% year-on-year with revenues exceeding €396m in 2018, almost €90m higher than in the previous year. The growth allowed Volotea to expand its employee base up more than 1,300 this year: 450 people in France, more than 400 in Italy, more than 350 in Spain and 50 people in Greece. In 2019 Volotea opened up 200 new job positions, 20% more than 2018. 50 of which have been created in Cagliari, where Volotea opened in May its 13^th base, 5^th in Italy.

Volotea is the first or the second airline with the larger number of destinations in almost all of its bases. Overall it is the second-largest airline in France and third in Italy in the number of domestic routes.

Volotea will continue increasing its operations this year, expecting between 7.5 and 8 million passengers. For these purposes, six additional aircraft Airbus 319 had been received, increasing its fleet up to 36 units to serve a total of 319 routes in more than 80 cities in 13 countries, including: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Malta, Austria, Ireland, Luxembourg and Morocco.

Volotea’s Growth

Volotea, the airline of European mid and small-sized cities, has carried more than 25 millionth passengers since its first flight in 2012 and 6.6 million in 2018.

In 2019, Volotea is opening 41 new routes to serve a lineup of 319 routes, operating flights to more than 80 mid and small-sized European cities in 13 countries: France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Portugal, Malta, Austria, Ireland, Luxembourg and Morocco. The airline expects to carry between 7.5 and 8 million passengers in 2019.

Volotea has currently thirteen bases: Venice, Nantes, Bordeaux, Palermo, Strasbourg, Asturias, Verona, Toulouse, Genoa, Bilbao, Marseille and Athens (these last three inaugurated in 2018) and Cagliari, recently inaugurated on May 30th 2019.

Volotea employs over 1,300 people in 2019 capitalizing in its activity growth. This year 200 new positions have been created.

In 2019, Volotea operates its network with 36 aircraft, Boeing 717s and Airbus A319s, after adding six additional aircraft in 2019. Both models are recognized for their comfort and reliability, with Volotea offering reclining seats which are 5% wider than the average in airlines.

The Airbus A319 is the aircraft model selected for its future growth and will allow the company to increase its passenger capacity by 25% to 156 seats and to serve longer routes.

Volotea has been the most punctual low-cost airline in Europe in the first quarter of 2019 with 90,4% punctuality rate, according to FlightStats.com

In 2019, Volotea will launch new services and develop new management developments to continue increasing customers’ satisfaction. Volotea achieves a 93,4% recommendation rate among its clients.
